There is a quite interesting list of things to do, see and live while you’re there. In June there are some interesting events that can be worth a visit to the city of Krakow (Cracow). The Jewish population of Poland was cruelly squashed by the holocaust, however Jewish culture is still rich and flourishing. The Jewish Culture Festival proves it.  Every year the Kazimierz district of Krakow, destroyed in World War II, holds an internationally-famous Jewish Culture Festival.
The event first took place in 1988 and today it’s arrived to its 18th edition. Each June for more than a week,  all kinds of events, from synagogue singing to klezmer music and Hasidic, classical, and Jewish folk music, take place in the Jewish district. The music is the core of the festival, but besides music there are also film screenings, exhibitions, presentations and story telling about a Jewish theme. The visitors can make an experience of Jewish traditional dances, songs, cooking, theatre and even paper-cutting and calligraphy. All initiative are opened and free for everyone. For more information about the Festival visit : jewishfestival.pl/.  A couple of weeks later, Krakow celebrates another Festival.
The Wianki - Floating of the Wreaths Festival. The beginning date is 24 June, 2008. The festival traces its roots to a peaceful pagan ritual. Whianki literally means 'wreaths' and it is a traditional midsummer celebration that remembers St John.  Polish girls wear wreaths of flowers with a lighted candle in the centre and then throw them into the Vistula River.
This ritual is for predicting when they would be married. If the wreath comes back to shore, the girl will never marry, if it sinks, she will die young and if it flows down the river, she will be married and be happy. By the 19th century this tradition had become a festive event, and it continues today. Apart from the official floating of wreaths, there are musical performances, dignitaries' speeches, fairs and fireworks by the river bank opposite the imposing Royal Wawel Castle. Poland's top pop stars are now joined by international acts to complete a day of celebration. More info at : visitpoland.org.
Also, in terms of accommodation, you will be happy to know that your budget won’t be suck up all in a sudden! Krakow offers some of the cosiest  and cheapest youth hostels of the Eastern Europe. The Lemon hostel or the Old Walls youth hostel are very nice as like as the Bling Bling Hostel or the cool AQQ hostel, the Free hostel, the Secret Garden, the Moon hostel. They are easily found in internet  in some bookers providing online bookings and prices comparison.
Very useful. In general, youth hostels  offer clean, colourful and comfy rooms at very cheap prices in Krakow. Let’s say you can expect to pay no more than 10 euros per person per night with breakfast included! Not bad ah?

Considering Travel Insurance? Okanagan, B.C. Man Loses Kidney In Costa Rica Hospital!

For all the future travelers that have the opportunity to read this story, I would hope that after you finish this article, you would highly consider Travel Insurance!
As a former travel Agent, when I read sad stories about travelers that have bad medical experiences abroad, it starts to make my stomach turn because I would quickly check all my client files to make sure they have all purchased some form of medical and/or cancellation policies from me prior to their travel.
However, when he awoke in the Costa Rica hospital where he had admitted himself, he quickly found out that his kidney was removed! This young man’s jaw was never fixed and the medical doctor in Costa Rica claimed several of his internal organs were damaged, and out of all the organs that were injured, they had to remove one of his kidneys. Makes you go Hmmm!
Now in my professional opinion, I would classify Costa Rica as a popular destination that I would recommend to many of my past clients to visit for their ecotourism and exotic vacation appeal. The problem is that when we suggest these destinations that are glorified as paradises, we sometimes forget to tell them that these vacation destinations don’t have medical facilities that are comparable to North American standards, and also not all facilities operate in the best faith.
All the facts about this incident are not proven yet, but the truth of the matter is in this incident, having the proper travel medical insurance coverage could have been the difference in this gentleman coming home safely with a fixed jaw and his kidney intact.
<b>How Does Medical Travel Protection Policies Eliminate Situations Like This, You Ask?</b>
Keep this in perspective due to the nature of the incident. The facts are still coming in about this mans occurrence Costa Rican hospital, and I’m not totally certain he did not have travel coverage, but in my professional opinion, if he did have a reputable comprehensive travel medical policy, I truly believe this situation would not have happened.
Here is my explanation that you can apply to having quality medical coverage. When you visit your travel agent, or decide to book your vacation online, many of the agencies and online companies will offer you an insurance policy that is designed specifically for your travel protection while away from your originating country. Due to a large percentage of your medical costs that may not be covered by the country you live in, travel medical emergency policies are there to protect you from the additional costs that your country will not be covering.
Let’s take this one step further. While you’re away on vacation, the Travel Medical/Cancellation Company you purchased your policy from now has a vested interest in your physical and financial protection. However, they also have a reputation and a financial interest in their company! By saying this, they must make sure that claims that are paid out are legitimate, and are not abused by many of the un-regulated foreign medical facilities that treat patients for emergency situations.
To control these illegal practices, most, if not all, travel insurance providers (including online Insurance companies) establish worldwide relationships with a great number of medical facilities in the tourist areas, and in this relationship, the selected Travel Insurance Company regulates them with very strict rules and guidelines.
This is why it’s important to read the policy terms and conditions, and understand what is required as the policyholders must follow these terms for their own protection under emergency situations. What many conditions state are that the people who get injured due to an unexpected situation, must contact the insurer prior to admitting themselves to a hospital, or a large percentage of their claim may not be paid.
Now I know many of you may be saying that if you were not conscious at the time you were admitted to a hospital, that’s beyond your control, and you’re right! However, upon becoming aware, you must at your earliest opportunity advise the Insurance Company where you are, and if it’s not a regulated hospital on their list, they will make arrangements to remove you to their preferred medical facility.
<b>Why Does A Travel Insurance Company Go To All This Trouble? </b>
This is where we continue from the story about the young man that had his kidney removed. Again, I’m going by my own opinion and no one else, and like I mentioned prior I don’t have all the facts, but in my profession I strongly believe that if this person had coverage with a reputable Travel Insurance Company, he would have more than likely contacted their toll free worldwide number, and talked to professional staff that are trained in the medical field.
He would have been directed to the correct hospital, and when he arrived, upon the instructions of the Insurance staff, he would have passed this information on to the medical staff at the Costa Rican hospital. This does one of two things, it gives the Insurance Company the power to regulate and make sure that only the necessary surgeries are taking place, and because they’re paying the bill, they will ensure that every situation is medically documented for any future liability.
I can’t guarantee that having the medical coverage would have avoided this situation, but I have to say when you eliminate all the risks by working with the Medical Insurance provider, you have a better opportunity in walking out of that foreign hospital with the peace-of-mind that you’re not going back home without all your valuable functioning organs.

Flying is a routine activity for millions of Americans, and raises no health considerations for the great majority of them. However, there are certain things you can do to ensure that your flight is as comfortable as possible.

Article Body:
Changes in pressure can temporarily block the Eustachian tube, causing your ears to 'pop' or to experience a sensation of fullness. To equalize the pressure, swallow frequently; chewing gum sometimes helps. Yawning is also effective. Avoid sleeping during descent; you may not swallow often enough to keep ahead of the pressure change. If yawning or swallowing doesn't help, use the 'valsalva maneuver':
    * Pinch your nostrils shut, then breathe in a mouthful of air.
    * Using only your cheek and throat muscles, force air into the back of your nose as if you were trying to blow your thumb and finger off your nostrils.
    * Be very gentle and blow in short successive attempts. When you hear or feel a pop in your ears, you have succeeded. Never force air from your lungs or abdomen (diaphragm); this can create pressures that are too intense.
Babies are especially troubled by these pressure changes during descent. Having them feed from a bottle or suck on a pacifier will often provide relief. Avoid flying if you have recently had abdominal, eye or oral surgery, including a root canal. The pressure changes that occur during climb and descent can result in discomfort.
If you have an upper respiratory or sinus infection, you may also experience discomfort resulting from pressure changes. Postpone your trip if possible. (Check to see if your fare has cancellation or change penalties.) A final tip on pressure changes: they cause your feet to swell. Try not to wear new or tight shoes while flying.
Alcohol and coffee both have a drying effect on the body. Airliner cabin air is relatively dry to begin with, and the combination can increase your chances of contracting a respiratory infection. If you wear contact lenses, the low cabin humidity and/or consumption of alcohol or coffee can reduce your tear volume, leading to discomfort if you don't blink often enough. Lens wearers should clean their lenses thoroughly before the flight, use lubricating eye drops during the flight, read in intervals, and take the lenses out if they nap.
If you are permitted to buy bottled water and bring it on the plane (check before your fly), get the biggest bottle you can carry.  Some countries don’t allow you to carry a bottle of water through the security checkpoint – but you can purchase one in the terminal (at ridiculously higher prices).  Even if you can buy the water at the terminal, doesn’t mean you can carry it onboard.  Check, check and re-check.
If you take prescription medications, bring enough to last through your trip. Take along a copy of the prescription, or your doctor's name and telephone number, in case the medication is lost or stolen. The medicine should be in the original prescription bottle in order to avoid questions at security or Customs inspections. Carry it in a pocket or a carry-on bag; don't pack it in a checked bag, in case the bag is lost.  Check with TSA on latest rules and regulations.

Article Body:
When you rent a car you can choose between several different types of cars.  To try to make renting a car, or a type of car, easier, rental agencies generally break all cars down into five categories.  Each of these categories usually comes with a different series of rates, and although limos and vans are available, just about all other vehicles will be classified as one of the following: economy car, compact car, mid-sized/intermediate car, full sized car, and luxury car.
A car in the economy class would be a smaller two door car, like a Geo Metro.  These cars usually have room for two adults, two children, and two small suitcases.  These are also generally the cheapest.  The next step up would be to a compact car, which could be two doors, or four doors.  Two of the most popular rented compact cars are Ford Escorts and Chevy Cavaliers.  These are generally seen as having room for two adults, two children, one large and two small suitcases.
The next step is up to the mid sized, or intermediated sized, car.  These are two or four door cars that include cars like the Ford Tempo or Buick Skylark.  These vehicles have room for four adults, and several large suitcases.  The full sized car would be a large car like the Ford T-Bird or Buick Century.  These have room for four adults, plus plenty of leg room, and a lot of luggage.
Then there are the luxury cars.  These cars generally have four doors and include the Ford Crown, Lincoln Town Car, or Pontiac Bonneville.  These cars have room for five adults and four large suitcases, plus extra bags.  These are good vehicles for family vacations.  There are convertibles available, too, but they will obviously cost more and are not as good for family travel.
Most travelers will recommend at least a mid sized car, since these models offer the engine power and special features needed to tackle most terrains (such as mountain roads) while having safety features like airbags.  Think of what you need the rental for, where you will be going, what you need the car to provide reliably over the course of your trip.  Based on that, match your needs with the class of rental car and make your choice from there.  Especially in new places or long trips, having a car you are comfortable with is very important, and will help guarantee a safe and comfortable trip.

When Henry Hudson arrived in 1609 few could possibly have anticipated the legacy he would leave behind. From humble beginnings, New York City has developed into the greatest metropolis on the planet.
Far from the crime ridden cesspit portrayed in films from the 1970s, New York has cleaned up its act. Many visitors are pleasantly surprised at the new found order and obedience within the present city.
Few places can compare for modern human spirit, depicted perfectly in the mass gathering of human emotion that is the New York City Marathon. Sunset in Central Park is the motivation for training.
But New York is also a place for individuals. The mammoth manmade canyons – a consequence of New York’s endeavour to reach the sky with its epic buildings – provide a space to reflect on its worldwide fame.
For many New Yorkers the sun can prove pretty elusive. The rousing skyscrapers shroud the Big Apple in shadow for much of the time.
For the tourists however, New York is blessed with iconic landmarks on every corner. Make your way to the summit of the Empire State Building to witness a magnificent 360-degree view that is the glory of Manhattan.
Art lovers should make their way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and revel in its noble works from America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Alternatively you may try the more enigmatic collections housed at the Museum of Modern Art and purchase eccentricities within the gallery stores.
If you’re fortunate to be in town at Christmas, don’t miss the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting including the wonderful festivities. New York captures the full Christmas flavour; maybe you’ll even be lucky enough to see some snow.
The bottom line is New York – and Manhattan in particular – is a living organism. The city that gave the world legends such as Miles Davis, Irving Berlin and Martin Scorsese quite literally shakes you by the shoulders and pushes you into the 21st century.
Many have succumbed and sought refuge in this vibrant theatre. John Lennon, Andy Warhol and the great lady herself, The Statue of Liberty – a gift from Paris – have all yielded to the cities charm.
When you find yourself entering the gates of New York for the first time, ignore the lousy coffee, New Yorkers’ dress sense, and the constant irritation of ‘wacky’ mobile phone ring tones. Just take a breath, grab a seat and go along with the ride.

Carefully chosen walking shoes will make a world of difference on your vacation. Your feet are as unique as your personality so just any old shoes won't do.
Here are some tips to help you choose the right walking shoes for you.
Find an athletic store that has qualified people who can evaluate your walking gait. They can then point you toward a shoe that will match your style.
Your feet will swell on a walk. So pick a walking shoe that is about a size bigger than you usually would buy. Or, if possible, try on your shoes after a long walk.
Fit your shoes while wearing the same socks that you will be wearing on your vacation.
Consider the type of walking you will be doing. Hiking boots are good for poorly maintained trails, off trail or cross country hikes. But they are heavy and stiff. Stick with walking or running shoes for walks on paved or maintained trails.
Make sure there is room at the toes and the sides. Even a small amount of rubbing will produce blisters.
Cushioned shoes provide comfort and are great for non rugged walking surfaces. They usually have a little less support.
Lightweight is important when you are walking all day. You can afford to give up a little support for light weight when you are walking on pavement or maintained trails.
Avoid flared soles and heels that are more than an inch higher than the sole in front. These types of shoes are not good for a walker's gait.
You want a flexible shoe that will twist and bend at the ball of the foot.
If you have wide or narrow feet make sure that you get a shoe that is sized for you. Don't settle for a standard width shoe. You will regret it.
The success of your vacation can depend on having a comfortable pair of shoes to walk in. Take the time to find the right one. It is worth it.

Choosing vacation rental property in Whistler

Choosing vacation rental property in Whistler
Word Count:
758
Summary:
Offers advice on the factors to be taken into account when looking for vacation rental property in Whistler

Keywords:
whistler, ski, accommodation, lodging, holiday

Article Body:
Whistler is perhaps North America’s best ski resort; certainly there is nowhere close for vertical drop, acreage of groomed runs and variety of expert terrain.  However there is also a tremendous variety of rental accommodation, and before you make a choice it would be as well to be educated about the options and their implications.
Whistler properties vary along 3 key dimensions: size, quality/style and location.   We don’t need to say much about size; there are properties on the rental market ranging from shoeboxes of 350 sq. ft to imposing chalets of 6000 sq. ft. or more.   Quality is another question altogether.  Much of the Whistler rental inventory was built in the 80s and 90s when the profile of the resort was lower and cost was the name of the game.  Most developments were built with indifferent design, cheap materials, poor quality fixtures and fittings and décor that is unimaginative at best.   You do not want to spend your vacation in a condo with a blue carpet, magnolia walls, formica countertops, shiny brass bathroom fittings and garishly-coloured sofas.   So you need to seek out either one of the more recent developments, such as Taluswood, that were built to a much higher specification, or you need to find a unit that has been recently renovated (or ‘Whistlerized’, as the local term has it).  ‘Whistlerization’ typically involves installing slate floors, granite countertops, stone fireplaces, wooden cupboards, beams and trim, and painting in earthy autumnal tones of café-au-lait, caramel and burgundy.   These units have a much more mountain-cabin feel.  The top-of-the-line properties in Whistler go a stage or three beyond this, with spectacular designs and extremely high-end finishes, although only a few of these properties are on the rental market.
Location is perhaps the key issue in choosing your Whistler rental.  Although only a small town, there are many different areas you can choose for your vacation, and each of them has advantages and disadvantages.
The Village is the place for proximity to bars and restaurants, and for being a relatively short walk to the lifts.  However most of the inventory in the Village is small, with one or two-bedrooms units dominant in the mix, and it was all built to a cheap standard.   It is critical to find a unit that has received a recent quality renovation.   There are also one or two units that are larger, but you may have to search hard to find them.
The Upper Village is on the lower slopes of Blackcomb Mountain.   This is the location for ski-in, ski-out units that are also reasonably accessible to the Village.   However, if you want ski-in, ski-out make sure that you check what this means.   Some properties are actually on the slopes; others, still styling themselves ‘ski-in, ski-out’ may be up to 5 minutes walk away.   Still others are ski-in, but not ski-out.
The second main location for ski-in, ski-out units is Taluswood on the lower slopes of Whistler Mountain.   This is a very upscale area with a variety of accommodation, but all of a high quality standard using peeled logs, natural materials and quality décor.   Access to the slopes is very easy, with no more than a 2 minute walk from most properties.  However you need a vehicle to get to shops and restaurants, as this area is not served by either the free shuttle or by municipal buses.
The fourth location is Creekside, the original location of Whistler.  This used to be a very downmarket area, but recent heavy investment has made it a decent alternative to the Village.  The Creekside gondola is always less crowded than the lifts in the Village, and there is now a great selection of shops and restaurants in town.  The quality of accommodation is very mixed, with many unattractive older properties and a few newer, luxury chalets that are equal to any in Whistler.   You can walk to the lifts from most locations in Creekside.
Finally, there is a selection of other locations, including Blueberry Hill, Nicklaus North and Alpine Meadows.  Here you will generally find larger homes, but they are not ski-in, ski-out and you will have to drive to the Village as well.  However, you will get more for your money in terms of the quality and size of the property itself here.

With history and culture as old as civilization itself, China is as complex as the DNA code of each of the 1.3 billion (and counting) Chinese populating the earth. Hence, we will not attempt on a crash course of the Chinese menu, but we will have a taste of its popular and most sought-after offerings.
Forbidden City
Constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasty eras, native Chinese call it Gu Gong while the tourism board and guests alike now call it the Palace Museum. It holds the record for being the largest palace complex in the world, sprawling over 74 hectares of property located at the very heart of Beijing.
A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site since 1987, it served both as a residence and as a seat of power to a total of 24 emperors, fourteen from the Ming dynasty and ten from the Qing dynasty. An imperial palace for a period of almost five centuries, it is composed of two divisions, namely, the Inner Court and the Outer Court. The former is located in the northern half of the compound and used as the royal residence of the emperor and his family while the latter is the southern half and served as the seat of imperial power of the ruler of China.
The Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortress with its own history of construction that spans across dynasties from the Western Zhou dynasty in 1100 BC to the Qin dynasty in 206 BC. The citadel that meanders through 6,700 kilometers of mountains and valleys, and grasslands and deserts from west to east, was refurbished and fortified by the Ming dynasty from 1368 to 1644.
A UNESCO World Heritage since 1987, it is one of the world’s greatest wonders and believed to be the only human construction on earth that is visible from outer space. A tourist who has never set foot on the Great Wall has never been to China.
Stone forest
Sculpted by nature’s own hands, the enchanting Stone Forest located in Lunan Yi Nationality Autonomous County is acclaimed as the First Wonder of the World. It is a group of several patches of limestone formations interspersed with scenic oasis spots covering an area of 96,000 acres. The fabled Stone Forest has a rich collection of legends and myths pertaining to its origin. However, geologists simply say that it used to be an expansive sea which dried up and the result of millions of years of erosion.

Fantastic! What a wonderful place to relax. Just put your wallet, keys  and phone in the safe and chill out in Magnificent surroundings  The hotel in the resort of Taba Heights,  Sinai. The hotel is designed the style of a Nubian Village and really sets the mark in Taba.
The views and grounds are spectacular - you can see Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel at over the gulf of Aqua on the Red sea. At night this is particularly stunning as the mountains take on a red hue reminiscent of sunset at Ayres Rock in Australia.
The hotel has its own huge, 500 metre stretch of  beach on the Red Sea where you can snorkel straight off the beach amongst the beautiful coral Reef.
There's more than enough sun-lounges (and the hotel was full) and food which is great. The staff are friendly and can't do enough to help.
If you want to go out and party beware! There are hardly any Bars or restaurants out side of the hotel Complexes.  However, we were given a dine around card at reception which allowed us to eat in the Neighbouring hotels including the Intercontinental, Sofitel & the Marriott. Most of these hotels were within a 15 minute walk from the Hyatt Regency. Not that you could get bored with the food at the Hyatt there are over 5 restaurants to choose from all with an International theme.
One evening we went in to on a Bedouin feast hosted in the desert by the local Bedouins. Where we drank tea, danced, and smoked the customary Shisha pipe. One day during our our stay we went to Water world for the day they have a range of water sports and diving classes for all levels. The underwater scenery was unforgettable.
Due to the remoteness’ & tranquillity it is recommended that you take plenty of reading material as the books and Magazines they have on offer in the hotels are limited and Expensive.
Overall I can say that this hotel is definitely worthy of its 5star Grading and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to go and really want to relax within a peaceful setting.
I can recommend booking with online company Holiday click who specialise in Taba Egyptian holidays. I found their staff very helpful and knowledgeable.  We went in Early July and paid £429 for 7 nights half board and were given a free upgrade to sea view on arrival. Article Body:
So, finally you have found the time for your deserving break. You have already planned what to do on the big trip. Everything seems to be prepared. But what happens when you forget your favorite digicam and you only discovered it when you’re already nearing the point of your destination?
Why does it happen that every time you go out of town, you always forget an item or accessory that you only remember after you left the house? If you are lucky, you usually forget small things like a toothbrush, where you can buy one in the nearest store.
But what happens if you forget, for example, your digicam? Or how about your raincoat in a rainy season? How about the travel supplies you usually forget?  If you’re lucky, it’s a simple accessory like a toothbrush, which any hotel will have in their gift shop.  But what if you forgot a more important product, for example, a rain coat?  Or a backpack you’ll be using for a hiking trip?
What are all the travel accessories you need?
When going on trips, whether it is big or small, check out if you have a complete set of your travel accessories. What accessories should I bring? Among the most obvious are:
- Suitcases
- Travel clothing
- Toiletries
-Travel appliances (electric razor, travel alarm, hairdryer)
These, however, are just the basic accessories. You will see that the more you travel, the more you need things other than suitcases, toiletries, and travel clothing and appliances. For example, did you think that you should have brought a small nice neck pillow in a long train ride or flight? Or, what if you get bruised from a hiking trip, do you have a first-aid kit close at hand?
Here are some accessories that you might want to bring when you take your next trip:
- Binoculars
- Music player
- Mini-flashlight
- Camera
- Clothing steamer
- Mini-umbrella
- Luggage rack
- Door alarm
- First-aid kit
It would not be surprising that you might have additional options to this list, or you might have a list entirely different from the list above. And when you check out stores and Internet sites that sell travel accessories, you would learn that there are many products out there that you thought you never needed but turned out to be the contrary!

Checking-in For Your Flight-It’s in the Bag

Arriving at the airport is the start of your vacation.  You can make it painful or painless.  It is all up to you.

Article Body:
For domestic flights, ensure that you check in 2 hours before your flight time.  For international flights you should check in 3 hours early.  For either type of flights, make sure that you have all your documentation readily available.  You will need your ticket, proper identification, and for international flights, your passport and, if required, your visa.
Don't check in at the last minute. Even if you make the flight, your bag may not. If you miss the airline's check-in deadline, the carrier might not assume liability for your bag if it is delayed or lost. If you have a choice, select flights that minimize the potential for baggage disruption. The likelihood of a bag going astray increases from #1 to #4 below (i.e., #1 is safest): 1) nonstop flight 2) direct or 'through' flight (one or more stops, but no change of aircraft) 3) online connection (change of aircraft but not airlines) 4) interline connection (change of aircraft and airlines)
Check with the airline on luggage weight restrictions.  Different airlines and different classes of travel have different rules.  Be prepared to pay for excess weight. When you check in, remove straps and hooks from garment bags that you are sending as checked baggage. These can get caught in baggage processing machinery, causing damage to the bag. The airline will put baggage destination tags on your luggage and give you the stubs to use as claim checks.
Make sure you get a stub for every bag. Don't throw them away until after you get your bags back and you check the contents. Not only will you need them if a claim is necessary, but you may need to show them to security upon leaving the baggage-claim area. Each tag has a three-letter code and flight number that show the baggage sorters on which plane and to which airport your luggage is supposed to go. Double-check the tag before your bags go down the conveyor belt. (The airline will be glad to tell you the code for your destination when you make reservations or buy your tickets.)
Your bags may only be checked to one of your intermediate stops rather than your destination city if you must clear Customs short of your final destination, or if you are taking a connection involving two airlines that don't have an interline agreement. Be sure all of the tags from previous trips are removed from your bag, since they may confuse busy baggage handlers.
When you get off of the plane, check and see what conveyor belt your luggage will be circling on.  Ensure you pay attention and get your own bags.  Many bags look alike.  You may want to put some sort of identifying ribbon, tape, or band on your bags to make it easy to spot upon arrival.
If you have to go through immigration/customs, ensure that you do not open your suitcases until directed.  The immigration officer usually asks a few preliminary questions and determines if you get the “green line” or if you need further checking.  Cooperate with the security officer and it should only take a few minutes unless you have something illegal.  Be honest on the customs declaration form.  Telling lies can get you in some very big trouble.
Once you locate you bags and clear customs, it is time to start enjoying your vacation.

But that was before. Now, although there are still shadows of the past Soviet, Russia is a place worth to be visited.
Travelers would not be disappointed with several historical sites that tell how rich Russia's culture is. There are several museums, monuments, and untouched nature.

To get affordable and cheap travel to Russia, all you have to do is to check the websites specializing on cheap tours. There are available travel tours and packages for group and family who decide to make a stop to Russia.
About Russia
While Moscow and St. Petersburg are the primary cities of the country, Russia has several side countries to discover. Be careful though when traveling. Make sure you know very well the places you are planning to visit.
You might have a little trouble communicating with locals especially if you are away on these two cities. But if you can understand the Russian language, you wont be having any problem.
Russia is a big country. In fact, it is the largest country in the world with a size twice as much as the United States. It spans from Europe to Asia and is divided into 11 time zones.
Climate has been the major issue of those who plan to travel Russia- that is if you will go to the Siberian region. Most people visit Russia when winter ends. It is usually for May- September. Unlike the usual impression, summer is perfect during these times.
Safety tips
When you decide to travel to Russia, learn as many things as possible. Know the language, the people, the culture, how to get around, and especially- know where the U.S. Embassy is located.
When you pack, pack light. Avoid carrying too much cash and expensive jewelry. Never show your wallets in public. Use money belt that can be worn around your neck. It is safer than wallet. Be vigilant when in crowded places like public markets, public transport, and tourist sites among others. Be aware of pickpockets at all times.
If you are going from point to point, do not hail on unmarked taxis and cars. Likewise, never share taxi to other people you do not know. If you are planning to travel by bus or train, take extra precaution.
If you are planning to drink on public places, make sure you have someone who remains sober. Any sign of intoxication might attract professional robbers and thieves.
Make sure other people back at home know your itineraries and contact numbers and numbers of your travel document such as your passport before leaving. If something wrong happens, they would know where to find you. Make enough photocopies of your plane tickets, passport, visa, and all your travel documents. Leave a copy at your home or to someone you know.
Check for travel warning and avoid the regions of Ingushetia, North Caucasus of Chechnya, eastern and southern parts of Stavropol Krii, and Dagestan. These places could be dangerous for tourist.
Avoid drinking tap water. Instead drink bottled water. If there is no available bottled water, boil the water first before drinking.
All these could help you make it through your Russian trip safely.

Alternative travel agents generally offer similar rates to one another. However, it is possible to save significantly on your travel, vacation packages and entertainment.
Every day, thousands of tickets and fares become automatically discounted by companies due to unclaimed or unsold status. Tickets are discounted by travel companies and direct providers for a variety of reasons such as unclaimed status, unsold status, discontinued status, midnight fare recalibration status and more. These tickets are then sold to travel customers for up to 90% off the original price.
Previously, these types of direct discount purchases were generally only available to authorized travel agents. However, there are currently internet databases which provide these tickets for purchase to members. Anyone is eligible to join these sites. Members are provided with a searchable database of discounted flight tickets, vacations, cruises and entertainment packages. Flights and cruises are available to hundreds of destinations worldwide on every major airline and cruise line. - Ask if your kids can stay for free, if you’re with your family, sometimes hotels can allow up to two kids for a two bed room provided that the kids are within the age limit.
- If you’re not very particular with hotel locations, you can access name-your-price websites for car rentals and hotel reservations. They’ll do the haggling for you and you’re sure not to over-budget.
- Some hotels and even car rental companies, give “free days” if you use their services for more than a week. Ask about these certain perks if you’re planning a long stay.
- Make sure that the room fees are the only ones you’re paying for. Some hotels have surcharges and extra fees that aren’t mentioned in room rates and then suddenly pop-up on check-out. Before you reserve, ask about these, and if upon check-out you suddenly find yourself with fees that you didn’t know about, refuse to pay it.
- You can also exchange frequent Flier miles for hotel lodgings so if you have an expiring miles card, or a miles card that you’d just want to get rid of, ask the hotel if they honor these exchanges.
- Sometimes, hotels provide free airport pick-up you can use this as bargaining tool. Ask for a free pickup when haggling so you’ll get something extra even if you pay the full price.

- Sometimes, weekend rates are lower than regular fees, or vice versa, ask your agent, or ask the hotel yourself if they have these, then you can schedule your trip during these times and be able to avail of the discount.
- Always ask for a confirmation number when you reserve a room, so that they can’t say that they didn’t receive your reservation.

Las Vegas, like any touristy type city has their share of great deals at great prices.  The great deals however are also limited to certain days of the week or month.  This is not to say that Las Vegas isn't a great place to be anytime.  The lower rates are like many in many areas, available in low season when there are fewer visitors.
Low season in Las Vegas is typically during the week.  Most hotels have a Tuesday thru Thursday, daily rate that is ridiculously low.  If you're interest is in enjoying one of the premier properties in Las Vegas, then consider the mid week getaway deals.  During these mid week times, you can book and reserve a room in hotels like Treasure Island, Luxor, MGM Grand, Caesars Palace and many more top Las Vegas hotel destinations at a substantial discount.
Occupancy is what the hotel is looking to achieve so the more people going, the lower the daily rate.  So check around and see what kind of deals can be found using local and web based travel agents.  Some travel agents specialize in Las Vegas tours and act as consolidators, booking blocks of rooms and travel arrangements.  Don't let the word "tour" discourage you however.  Tour in this case in nothing more than a designation of a group of people going to a common location.  This is not like a sightseeing type of tour where someone will take a group around the city to see the sights.  This is just a group of people who are traveling at the same time to the same destination city and usually staying at the same hotel accommodation.
If you're looking to visit Vegas during the high season, which is Friday thru Sunday, the strategy to snag a cheap Las Vegas hotel needs to change a little.  As always, it pays to plan ahead.  Don't go during a busy weekend when major conventions are in town.  The rates are high and stay that way for everyone.  Still, the way to lower hotel costs is your membership in other groups.  The automobile club, American Association of Retired Persons, or even your employer may have discounted rates established at many of Las Vegas nicest resorts.
Another way to save big is to stay longer.  That's right, staying longer usually gets a better rate than a one or two night stay.  Remember to always ask when booking.  Las Vegas always have tourists coming and going.  Although many 4 and 5 star hotels will have higher rates, remember to look for discount packages and stay awhile longer.  These are your best bet to find the cheapest rates and the nicest places.

Every one of us dreams of traveling by airplane and view the beauty of the world from the aerial view. There are many variants when it comes to air traveling, some of them were developed by freight or for commercial and company use.
Why choose travel by air?
Obviously one of the problems by land is lack of space. Meaning thousands of motorists traveling everyday and it seems that this will cause a time delay if you are heading to an important appointment. For busy people the time factor is very important.
It is also a know n fact that traveling by air is much faster than its alternatives. We can assume that people traveling by air are those who have important things to do, like businessperson, authors, diplomats, travelers, government officials and some other important persons.
If you are planning to travel by plane with a large number of friends and relatives to go to a far place and you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of transferring from one bus to another, air travel is the solution.
Evidently, the most interesting spatial characteristics of an airport are its setting and relativisation of the social life implied by air travel.
Cheap flight on the way
Always put up with in mind that cheapest does not always mean the best. For instance, a courier flights may be cheaper than the student fare but restrictions and limitations can affect you personally.
Some times traveling thru a weekdays is unlike from the weekends. At times also staying one day or less or more could affect the fare price. Some airlines cut off their flights. Some of them scheduled it in every month and then two months.
It would be cheaper to flight from one airplane then transfer to another rather than having a flying directly towards the destination.
Fares depend on who the traveler is or his/her status. As much as traveler's status is concern nowadays, the following people are the one entitled to discounts with some airlines, like students, young children, disabled persons, and senior citizens.
Consulting an airline agent will be a great help to the passengers; it will surely be able to cover up all the issue and thoughts running in your mind about the flight. You can also bargain with the agent to have a good deal with them.
Getting a flight and paying little is a tough job. It maybe concluded that that there are so many considerations and options in choosing cheap air flight whether local or overseas. Finding for cheaper ways to travel by air is not that easy. It will need to take a lot of time and patience.
Just remember this that there is no charge to consult a travel agent. It would be better to find someone who can suggest you of those travel journals in order for you to know what would fits your needs.
Travel agents will provide the best costumer service, full practical advice, and will assist you finding the information on cheap airfares when you need to travel. You also need to know information about last minute flight, hostel memberships, rail passes and hotel reservation.

Celebrate Songkran in Thailand

Celebrate Songkran in Thailand

Summary:
Sawasdee Pii Mai & Happy Thai New Year!  Although it is a few months away, it is never too late to plan for a trip to Thailand to celebrate Thai New Year.

Keywords:
songkran, year, water, new, new year, tourists, people, thailand, pattaya, bangkok, wet, tourist, festival, bangkok pattaya

Article Body:
Songkran will be celebrated from 13 – 15 April in 2008 (or 2551 on the Thai calendar) and usually runs for about a week unofficially in parts of Bangkok and Pattaya.  Thai people know how to party and celebrate their own New Year, Chinese New Year and the Western New Year.  Of the three, Songkran is the wildest.
Depending on who you ask, Songkran is the best or the worst time of year to be on vacation.  The main reason – water.  Traditionally, Songkran is a water festival and celebrated by ‘sprinkling” water on other people.  In tourist areas of Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, the sprinkling has escalated to fire hoses, water tube blasters, and super-soakers.
Drunken tourists and locals in Pattaya and on Khaosan Road in Bangkok take this festival as a time to get absolutely crazy and drench each other in water.  Additionally, a white paste made from flour or talcum powder is smeared on unwitting people’s faces.
If you are in a tourist area or even in an upcountry village during Songkran, you can expect to get wet. The more touristy the area, the wetter you will get.  Being soaked and then going into an air conditioned bar or restaurant can be very uncomfortable and could lead to a nasty cold.  There is also the possibility of infection as the water is not always clean.
I am not trying to throw a damper on a New Year celebration; I am just trying to let people know that they can expect to see a lot of drunken tourists getting soaking wet during this festival.  You can have a lot of fun, but you can see tourists at their absolute worst.
Getting back to the real meaning of Songkran, it is a time to go to the temple to pray and give food to the monks.  It is also a time to cleanse the Buddha images at their household shrines and at the monasteries with water and a pleasant fragrance.
This is also a traditional time to make resolutions to do good deeds and refrain from evil and even a time to clean the house.  Out with the old and in with the new.
Sadly, it is also the worst time of year for road accidents and deaths on the highway.  Wet roads, alcohol, and helmetless motorcycle drivers are a deadly combination.  Despite the government’s best efforts, the number of revelers who don’t get to the New Year is way too high each year.  The annual Songkran don’t drink and drive campaign usually falls on deaf ears.
Many expats who live in Thailand leave the country or head north to quieter Songkran celebrations and leave the tourist areas to the tourists.  Personally, I schedule my trips so that I am nowhere near Thailand during New Years.
As are most other things in Thailand, it is “up to you” whether you want to experience Songkran.  I would recommend seeing it at least once and then you can determine for yourself if you want to go back to do it again.
If you go, be careful or the slick roads and drunk drivers, and make sure you bring plenty of zip-lock bags to keep your valuables dry.

Celebrate Loy Krathong in Thailand

Summary:
Unique to Thailand, Loy Krathong is celebrated country-wide during the 12th month of the Thai lunar year.  The holiday is usually in November.

Article Body:
In 2008, Loy Krathong will be celebrated on November 13th.  If you search on the Internet, you may find the date listed as the 12th, 24th, or even the 27th.  From everywhere I searched, the consensus is the 13th of November.  You may also find different spellings with different phonetics – like Loi Kratong.
Loy Krathong is probably the best holiday festival to attend.  You can celebrate it wherever you are in Thailand.  The Thai people dress in traditional outfits and it is a party that lasts all night long.
In Thai, loy means float and krathong is a small boat or raft about the size of your hand.  Companies and businesses may make them larger but for the individual person a small float about 6 to 8 inches around is normal.
They are usually made from banana leaves folded in intricate patterns and carry flowers, candles and incense.  It is believed that floating your krathong will bring you good luck and some believe it is an offering of respect to the goddess of the water.
According to legend, in the 13th century, Nang Nopamas, a royal consort of King Ramkhamhaeng (the founder of Sukhothai), made the first krathong as an offering to Mae Nam. She set it afloat on one of the canals of the palace so that it would drift past her lover, the king. This is the origin of the belief that if two lovers set a krathong adrift and it stays afloat until out of sight, their love will last forever.
Thai people also use the krathongs to float away their problems and anger and sometimes include a bit of themselves in the krathong.  Bits of hair or fingernails may be sent afloat to symbolize the letting go of bad things in their life.
Traditional krathongs have come back in vogue with the Thai government telling people not to use Styrofoam to float their bad luck away.  Good to see concern for the ecology.
Competitions for the biggest and most beautiful krathongs are held nation-wide.  Usually there will also be beauty contests and the ladies will be decked out in their finest traditional Thai costumes.
If your vacation spot is on or near the beach – like in Pattaya or Phuket – you won’t be  fireworks.  If you are in Bangkok, head for Lumpini Park or the Chao Phraya River and experience this festival.
The place to celebrate Loy Krathong is in northern Thailand – Chiang Mai.  The celebration lasts for about one week with processions, open markets, stage shows and a beauty pageant.  Hotels will be booked solid so book in advance.
Loy Krathong is not a national holiday, but a night when Thais pay respect to the goddess of the waters by floating candlelit offerings on any and all waterways around the kingdom.
Plan your Thai holiday in the month of November to witness this spectacular Thai festival of water and romance.

This a good motto for business travelers to take to heart.

Keywords:
car rentals

Article Body:
This a good motto for business travelers to take to heart.  While the same can be said for families and individuals looking for rentals, the rental business is made and maintained by business travelers, and there are very few business men, especially older ones, who have not experienced some very unwanted last-minute surprises when the final bill for the car-rental is much higher than what they originally anticipated.
There are a lot of horror stories involving expecting a $100 bill and paying $200, or of checking a credit card statement that included huge fees and expenses that the renter was never expecting.  The bad news is, usually these will have to be paid, and there generally is not an appeals process.  All rental contracts have small print, and guess what’s in that fine print?  The good news is that with only moderate training, your eye will be able to scan a contract whether on paper or online, and see the most common traps that renters fall into.  Once you see the traps, you’ll have the discernment to avoid them.
First off, watch out for local taxes and fees.  Taxes and fees should be part of the quoted rate, but some places will try to pull a quick one by having the rental fees without the taxes.  Always ask to be sure.  Ignorance is not an excuse, and some rental places make their money off people not asking questions they should.  Taxes and fees can increase your final cost by up to 70 percent in the worst situations.
Although usually a minor expense, you should note that most rental car places now add a small fee to customers earning frequent flier miles for their rentals.  Expect to pay 50 cents per day, up to a maximum of $2 per rental, for earning those miles.
The most major thing to look out for is insurance.  This is the one major car-rental fee you can do something about.  When they pitch collision or liability damage waivers, don't fall for rental car agents' hard sell (these are commission items, which is why they are so strenously recommended at the counter).  Normally, if you own a car and have insurance you're already covered when driving a rental car.  Many major credit cards offer insurance as long as the rental is charged on that card.  Before your next trip, call your insurance company and credit card company to see if you’re covered.  If you are, tell the person at the counter to forget the pitch: it’s not worth $30 a day or more to buy something you already have.  Avoid these things, and your next car rental bill will be far less likely to start a migraine.

Are you tired of traffic jams, increasing air pollution and ever increasing fuel prices? Do you want to do something about all this?
Now you can by forming a carpool. Carpools are an excellent alternative to public transport and private commuting. While there have been carpool sites in developed countries, the awareness about carpools in developing countries such as India is very low. To counter this Indimoto has launched Indimoto.com an auto classifieds site which is also India’s first carpool matching site. A carpool or rideshare is an arrangement wherein people share their vehicles with other carpoolers and commute together. “The objective behind Indimoto.com was to build an auto classifieds site where users can buy and sell cars and bikes, auto products and services, search for auto events, auto clubs and carpools. Our carpool matching service is the first of its kind in India and through it we wish to enable commuters to easily form carpools and enjoy its benefits while contributing to saving the environment” says Udit Bhandari, founder & CEO Indimoto.com.
According to Udit “Carpools make lot of sense because you save money by sharing fuel costs, vehicle maintenance cost & parking fee, you save the environment by saving fuel and reducing harmful exhaust gases while reducing traffic congestion. By carpooling you also expand your network of friends/contacts”. Indimoto.com allows users to search carpool offers and requests in his/her city, and also start ones own carpool by posting a free ad in the carpool section.
“With growing air pollution levels in our metro cities, manic traffic jams and increasing burden of fuel prices on commuter’s wallets, there are only two alternatives, public transport or carpools. Public transport infrastructure is not yet a comfortable and logical alternative to private transport for many urban commuters and that’s where carpools come in. Also carpools generate a sense of community and caring for your environment” says Udit. Carpools are a common phenomenon in the developed world often supported by city and state government for the many advantages they offer. Indimoto.com has taken the initiative in India wants to make it a habit amongst Indian commuters.

All there is to know about the vacation destination of your dreams – that is exactly what a Caribbean travel guide offers. But are Caribbean travel guides really godsend? Or are they just patronizing materials designed for commercial purposes?
Well, they’re a little of both actually. After all, the people behind Caribbean travel guides do need a source of income in order to continue to publish their guides. But a tremendous amount of research has been placed in these guides to just dismiss them as useless resource material.
What else is more nifty, informative and convenient than a Caribbean travel guide?
Sure, the Internet may prove more updated when it comes to information, but you can’t carry the Internet everywhere. And believe it or not, it’s always much more gratifying to pull out a Caribbean travel guide from your carry case, flip a few pages open, then slip it right back when you’re tried of reading. It sure beats having to wait in the airport, sitting bored silly and wondering whether or not your flight’s going to be delayed.
That said, don’t cling to travel guides religiously. Many travelers make that mistake. They are not the bibles that they are made out to be by some people. You should know that published materials, including travel guides, are out of date the moment they are published, because by then, there would have been new updated material that came up and it would be too late to include them.
So, how are you supposed to use Caribbean travel guides then? How would you know which information to believe and which facts are outdated? Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to that. To get the most out of your Caribbean travel guide, use them sparingly for basic orientation. So once you have the basics right down to a tee, go out there and discover the towns and cities on your own. That is, after all, what traveling is all about – adventure and discovery of new things. At the very least, when all other signs look foreign, the information on museums and places of interest are great.
However, when it comes to hotels and restaurants, each to his own taste and budget. Remember that bargains rise in price with popularity, so there’s every bit of chance that that hot new deal in your Caribbean travel guide isn’t much of a deal anymore, considering how pricey it has become. And then sometimes, too, the places get easily full with foreigners and travelers like you, so you can’t always expect your Caribbean travel guide to point you in the right place all the time.
Then, if you do wander around on your own, then you will surely find quality rooms with reasonable prices. They may be located in out-of-the-way places that Caribbean travel guide writers may not know about. Remember that because you in the destination, you are in far better place to get what you want out of your vacation.
So to close it off, don’t be a sad type who writes to say that “it wasn’t like what you said in the book.” Here’s a tip: open your eyes and explore for yourself!
